It is undeniable to admit that sustainability has become a paradigm and an important issue that all countries and societies should address seriously, amid the lack of resources in the world, especially energy which reflects the main weakness of human beings since decades ago.
The Lebanese ARZ Rating System "ARZ" was developed by Lebanese experts from LGBC in 2011 in partnership with the International Finance Corporation. It aims to achieve the largest operation efficiency and reduce the environmental impact.
The ARZ system is an evidence-based approach to assessing buildings and their sustainability. The system includes the group of techniques, procedures, and energy consumption levels that LGBC expects in green buildings.
ARZ building assessment system is designed to assess the achievement of the existing commercial buildings in Lebanon of being healthy buildings, comfortable for work, and consuming a suitable quantity of energy and water, with low impact on the natural environment. In addition, the assessment system will motivate building owners and facility managers to achieve higher certificate levels than ever to attract tenants and distinguished customers.

Noteworthy, there are common points between Arabic sustainability codes, such as the preservation of water and energy. There are also differential points in the assessment of some items due to the specifications differences of every country, as well as the need for the government's support to encourage applying sustainability in construction projects.
